Preheat oven to 350°. Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with baking spray, line with parchment paper, letting excess extend over sides of pan.
In a medium bowl, beat butter, sugar, and vanilla with a mixer at medium speed until fluffy, 1 to 2 minutes, stopping to scrape sides of bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and chopped pecans. Fold flour mixture into butter mixture just until combined. Spoon batter into prepared pan, and spread using an of set spatula.
Bake until golden brown and a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 20 to 25 minutes. Let cool completely on a wire rack. Using excess parchment as handles, remove from pan. Trim edges and cut into bars. Garnish with confectioners’ sugar, if desired.
