A classic color palette in this Kentucky bedroom pays homage to the Bluegrass State. “I’ve always been drawn to blue; it feels like a neutral to me,” says homeowner and designer Gretchen Black, who hails from Kentucky. She put together this stunning room in a house built by her husband, Jason Black, of Artisan Signature Homes. A rattan peacock chair adds a hint of summery flair.

Sometimes simplicity is key in crafting a tranquil retreat, and a pared-down color scheme keeps this elegant room feeling fresh. A minimalist approach lets special pieces shine, like an upholstered bench complete with a pair of bolster pillows and rich wood nightstands that imbue the setting with warmth.

By extending an eye-catching floral wallpaper to the ceiling, designer Maggie Griffin created a comfy nook for guests staying in her cabin in Highlands, North Carolina. A few sentimental accents, including antique luggage she inherited from her great-grandparents and pillows swathed in a vintage crewel textile, lend even more charm.

If you’re looking to add more visual interest, consider textural variety. Antique baskets fastened to the wall complement draperies and pillows done up in a classic Schumacher fern print. A grand four-poster bed adds elegance, while an antelope-print rug elevates the earthy vibe.

A cozy bedroom isn’t just for adults, as this charming boy’s room is a fanciful example of a sophisticated space for children. A fun wallpaper adorned with toile horsemen sets the scene, with bold scarlet accessories enhancing the palette. The playful striped rug keeps the area soft for little ones as they play.

This primary suite’s cool neutral hues make it a soothing enclave well suited for winding down. Hints of cobalt in throw pillows keep the space from feeling stuffy, and plush curtains framing a verdant view allow for the residents to darken the room when bedtime calls.
