
Notes of apple and orange, along with autumn spices, harmonize with brandy and Spanish red wine in this Apple Cider Sangria.
Apple Cider Sangria
MAKES 6 TO 8 SERVINGS
Ingredients
- 2 Honeycrisp apples, cored and sliced ¼ inch thick
- 1 tablespoon crushed cardamom pods
- 1 tablespoon whole cloves
- ¾ cup brandy
- 2 (750 ml) bottles Spanish red wine
- 4 to 6 cups apple cider
- 1 cup fresh orange juice
- Sliced apples, star anise pods, cinnamon sticks, and dried oranges, to serve
Instructions
- Place apple slices, cardamom pods, and cloves in a large pitcher. Pour brandy over apples and let stand at least 10 minutes. Stir in wine, apple cider, and orange juice. Cover and chill in refrigerator at least 2 hours. Serve warm or cold with sliced apples, star anise, cinnamon sticks, and dried oranges.
