An antique chandelier and damask draperies in the dining room reinforce the home’s Victorian heritage, as does the glass transom that leads into the living room. Gleaming cherrywood cabinetry in the study holds the homeowners’ prized collection of blue-and-white porcelain.
Unlike traditionally dark Victorian interiors with warrens of small rooms, the home is filled with light, and the spaces have an open flow. The combined kitchen, dining, and family room area—each visually separated by large lantern-style light fixtures—allow the family to cook, dine, and visit with loved ones at the same time.
Soft aqua walls in the master suite lend a tranquil tone that is underscored with luxurious custom bedding and classic draperies in muted hues. The en suite bath features gleaming marble floors, along with a freestanding tub and a crystal chandelier.
The perfect place to stop and smell the roses, an open pavilion with a coffered ceiling and stone-tiled floors connects the family’s home to the carriage house. It offers views of the exquisite rose garden and additional space for entertaining and relaxing. The pink fabric for the furniture cushions was chosen to mimic the hues of the roses in bloom. The garden itself is a wonder to behold, with lovely statuary and stone benches tucked among the fragrant flowers.
