Lunch in the Orchard

Lunch in the Orchard

Lunch in the OrchardAs buckets and baskets brim with the season’s berry bounty, plan a meal that showcases the fruits of your fun-filled labor.

Harvesting Memories

With blueberries and blackberries ripe for picking, visit a local farm that invites you to make yourself at home in their flourishing orchards. Budding brambles and bushes are sure to evoke childhood memories of foraging for wild varieties and savoring them on-site. Rays of morning sunlight dance on verdant leaves and highlight a kaleidoscope of colors only revealed by a close, careful look.

Each burgeoning berry dons a unique hue, from the pastel pink and purple of young blue blueberries to the variegated red and green of maturing Ouachita blackberries. While it may be tempting to snack while you work, save your appetite for a berry-inspired lunch amid the orchard’s shaded rows.

Fresh and Flavorful

A hand-blocked tablecloth bearing a French wildflower motif provides a picture-perfect backdrop for a fetching tabletop display. Floral-etched glasses and plates resembling white blossoms continue the theme of beauty in bloom.

For a sweet and savory appetizer, top crostini with a cheese and chive spread, gussied-up blackberry jam, and crispy bacon.
Drizzled with Strawberry Vinaigrette, a grilled chicken and berry salad makes a hearty and refreshing main dish complemented by a cool, fruity Berry-Lemon Tea.

Add a hint of heat to classic blueberry muffins with chopped jalapeño peppers, and serve them alongside a luscious butter infused with fruit, honey, and fresh herbs.

Individual raspberry cheesecakes round out the felicitous affair.
