While we never tire of turning the pages of a beautiful magazine, lately, we’ve been tuning in to a few podcasts that share our appreciation for Southern style, food, and culture. From intriguing interviews with special guests to live cooking lessons, here are three podcasts hosted by inspiring women across our region that are sure to be a bright spot in your day.
1. Steel Magnolias
Sisters with the gift of gab, Laura Beth Peters and Lainie Stubblefield of Franklin, Tennessee, celebrate the best of life in the South on the Steel Magnolias Podcast. As they dish on regional cuisine quirks, musical legends, travel picks, or tabletop traditions, listening to each episode feels like conversation over coffee with a dear friend. Catch the duo’s new releases starting this month, which will explore topics like cowboy culture, Tex-Mex fare, and iconic Southern cookbooks.

2. Smidgen
Anne Milneck, owner of Red Stick Spice Company and SoGo Tea Bar in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, addresses common conundrums that home cooks face. “The podcast is simply an extension of what we do in the store every day: solve problems and answer questions,” Anne says of Smidgen. She invites listeners into the kitchen for live cooking sessions related to episodes that span topics like updating heirloom recipes, picking out the perfect baking tools, and getting out of weeknight meal ruts with “somewhere between a pinch and a dash” of flavorful spices.
One of our favorite episodes: “Vintage Recipes Revisited“
4. Say It Southern
What happens when a previous winner of the ABC network’s hit reality show The Bachelor and a luxury event planner team up for a podcast? Listen to Sarah Stone Smith and Courtney Goolsby’s Say It Southern to find out! You’ll hear inspirational stories from movers and shakers across our region who are pursuing their dreams as entrepreneurs, artists, writers, philanthropists, and beyond. Several guests have even appeared in the pages of Southern Lady, such as Richard Reutter of Caroline’s Cakes, Kate Stewart of Bauble Stockings, and Natasha McCrary of 1818 Farms.
