Classic pieces blend with modern favorites for a personal approach to high style.
Homeowner Beth Jordan of Birmingham, Alabama, says she follows her impulses. From the clean, modern lines of her smoky-gray living room sofa to the aged patina of an antique bureau in a stairway alcove, Beth’s aesthetic never steers her wrong.
“If I see something I am drawn to, it’s usually a good indication it’s going to work somewhere in my house,” she says. “I like to mix it up. I just see something I love and figure out where to put it.” The result is an eclectic blend of vintage and modern elements where every piece tells a story and engages conversation. Beth shares that the trumeau mirror on display in her foyer is a handmade father-daughter project and a reminder of her father’s skillful artistry.
Beth keeps things simple in her kitchen, opting for dishes and cookware in white, silver, and pewter. The breakfast nook chairs paired with an antique farm table underscore the room’s eclectic style. Silk curtains and whimsical touches like the cherubs Beth’s mother gave her add to the appeal of dining room. “It’s cozy, it’s different, it’s fun,” she says.
